First edition: 1945 on the title page and on the copyright page with no later printings listed. Light wear to the binding. No distortion from reading or improper shelving. The color pastedown on the front cover shows a scuff about the size of a quarter coin at the top (does not sully the image of the cocoa dancer). Pages are tight and clean with no marks (no scribbles, no crayon). No name of previous owner. No odor. No water damage. No soiling. No sun fading. No dust jacket (as issued?). Not an ex-library copy.

Etat : Very Good. Condition: Very Good +; Sm4to, 27pgs. Full bound in beige buckram with color illustrated paper label on front board and matching dustjacket. The book has 12 color illustrated plates, very clean and bright, and endpapers by Gladys Rourke Blackwood, paper label on front board is in pristine condition. Very light wear to spine ends and corner tips, a faint hint of soiling at head and tail of joints, and top front corner lightly bumped. Previous owner's name and note in pen on front free endpaper. Head and tail of dustjacket spine is slightly worn and chipped, some small areas of extremities as well, a couple of scuff marks on rear cover, and two closed tears both around 1 1/4'' on rear cover. Hardcover.

Corners bumped & frayed, spotting on rear cover, faint waterstain on front, minor smudges on a few pages. 27 pages, full color illustrations & endsheets. Size: 8¼" by 10¼".
