Livre
Leather. Etat : Very Good +. Circa 1780. Folio. Full modern dark brown morocco. Blindstamped double ruled lines to the boards. Six raised bands with gilt titles and the author's name to the panels. Illustrated with ninety-seven engraved plates and three full page maps of England, Scotland and Wales. The plates include five full page naval scenes plus many portraits of English monarchs and famous scenes from English history. The text covers the history of England from the earliest times to 1779. Two long ink inscriptions on the reverse of the frontispiece which is slightly spotted. Some occasional spotting. One plate frayed in margins. Preface leaf creased and light creasing to the title and last few pages. One plate bound in upside down. Please note that the collation is very difficult as the pagination of the text is erratic with many pages mis-numbered. One plate is missing, but the list of of plates calls for three maps which are present and eighty-six plates, but there are ninety-seven plates, eleven more then called for. Almost four inches thick. A solid tight square book. Size: 9.0" x 15.0" Language: eng.
