Printed by Saturday Night Press, Inc., A family memorial of Russel's letters home describing his training and experiences as an American aviator in the U.S. Air Service during World War I. Russel, a Cornell graduate, enlisted in April, 1917, and after training in the U.S. sailed for England in October, 1917. After short duty as a ferry pilot he was attached to the 95th Aero Squadron, First Pursuit Group of the American Air Service and immediately went to the front on July 16, 1918, at Chateau Thierry. He was killed on August 11, 1918, and is buried in Courville, France. Photographic reproductions in black and white. A very fine, bright, neary as new copy.

Nice copy. WWI flyer's letters to his family back in Detroit. William "Bill" Russell, age 24, was killed in action in France in 1918. Ink name of Henry B. Ledyard and dated February 14, 1943. His father, Henry B. Ledyard, Jr., had been the president of Michigan Central Railroad and was friends with William Muir Russel's father, Henry Russel, who was the attorney for the same railroad. The book was copyrighted by the heartbroken father, Henry Russel who died in 1920. SCARCE in dustjacket, and such a nice dustjacket too!.

Very Good condition book, corners nice and sharp, in Very Good condition dust wrapper with tiny chips to the upper corners and spine tips, slight age darkening to the spine. Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection, it does not adhere to the book or to the dust wrapper. Member of the P.B.F.A. FIRST WORLD (Great) WAR.
