Etat : Good. No Edition Remarks. 212 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. Light foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Light cracking and creasing to gutters but binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with visible sunning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier sunning with soft splitting, fraying and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Internally excellent. 214 pages, 10 b/w photos. In 1514 Henry VIII granted a licence for a school at Pocklington in East Yorkshire. As the 1950s approached a history of the school was commissioned, it is also a potted account of the British grammar school system.

Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. Ten black & white photo illustrations (illustrateur). 1st Edition. A very well preserved hardback First Edition of this comprehensive School history being in a strong 8vo binding with clean bright text and illustrations throughout. No date but confirmed as 1951. The pale blue cloth cover is, as ever, somewhat faded to the spine area, though the gilt titles to spine and armorial device to the upper board are bright. A little off-setting to end-papers though no inscription or marking to its 214 pages. Scarce in this condition. The Foundation of the school by John Dowman was in 1514, the license granted by Henry VIII. Twelve year-old William Wilberforce came to Pocklington School as a boarder in 1771.
