    Color lithos and Chinese characters, 9 x 7, decorative wraps with glassine covering and a double slipcase, 114+ table of contents. Glassine torn on front, light bumping to spine tips with small tears to glassine, ink inscription, uncut, offsetting on p. 83 from limitation slip, slipcase has some soiling and sunning, else vg. Lithographs are by K'o Shiang Ko (colored by Roger Nervet) of which there are 20 vignettes and 7 full page (produced at the Marci Studio in Brussels), Chinese characters are by M. Lin Chi Han (printed by L'Imprimerie Nationale de France); printed on Marais paper with watermark on some of the pages. Inscribed and signed by the author to Nancy Williams, wife of the former governor of Michigan, G. Mennen Williams and dated April 1963. Sheyven was the director-general of foreign policy for the Belgian Foreign Ministry and was the Belgian ambassador to the U.S. from 1959-1969. A very beautiful book.     4to., First Edition, on Marais paper, text in French, with coloured lithographed frontispiece, title and text in red and black, coloured title-vignette, 7 fine coloured lithographed plates and numerous smaller coloured illustrations in the text; original plain ivory wrappers, unclipped dustwrapper under glassine overlay, textured ivory case with red cloth back, backstrip with paper label printed in red and black, the whole housed in publisher's printed board slip case, the slip-case very lightly browned, a near fine copy. EDITION LIMITED TO 500 NUMBERED COPIES (THIS COPY NO. 202). The lithographs are by K'o Shuang-sho, coloured by Roger Nervet and produced at the Marci Studio, Brussels. The Chinese characters in the text are by M. Lin Chi Han. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
