Reflections on garden design by Sedding (1838-91), architect and one of the intellectual begetters of the Arts and Crafts Movement. As Sedding explains in his preface, the book owes its origin to a lecture given by him to the Art Workers Guild, but eventually assumed this more substantial form. The manuscript had been delivered by Sedding to his publishers before his premature death, and the opportunity was taken to add a vivid introductory tribute to him by a close friend. The first edition appeared in 1891 and this second edition is an unchanged reissue. 8vo. vii+(1)+xxvi+(2)+215+(1)pp, 16 plates incl frontispiece. Publisher?s gilt-stamped cloth, stained at foot of spine. No ownership inscription but recently in the possession of Prof.John House.
