Interior generally clean with usual reader wear for the age, interior front cover/inset with inscription dated 1936 and some rough erase scuffs most likely from previous owners. Rear interior with some light stains, binding tight though netting showing a touch, original covers with a good amount of wear to the edges and rubbings. Overall a nice vintage reader/reference copy.

Etat : Fair. 1907. No Edition Remarks. 105 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Binding is slightly loose. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

With the bookplate of the late Christopher Brinson, a collector of books on magic, researcher and author of works on magic (Arcady Press). The bookplate shows a sphinx with pyramids in the background and conjuring tools in the foreground including a magic wand. Well illustrated throughout with drawings and photos.Illusuions, 'black arts', 'black magic', quite alot on juggling, good mention of contemporaries Trewey, Valadon, Wm C Fields, Chung Ling Soo, Hoard Thurston (inc an article by him on playing card manipulation.) Selbit's biggest illusion was developed later -- sawing a woman in half. .
