Hard Cover. Kenny Meadows (illustrateur). A reading copy or for rebind, some foxing, worst on end pages & plates, but many pages unaffected. Internal paper gutters split but still just held by the cloth. Otherwise interior in nice clean condition - no deliberate marks. Cover worn with splitting to top of rear hinge. Undated but believed to be about 1870. Weighs 1kg.

Contemporary half brown leather binding, brown floral cloth covered boards, gilt separation along leather edges, raised bands + gilt floral design between + gilt lettering on spine. lettering on front, gilt lettering + raised gilt bands + gilt scrolls between on spine. Original yellow eps. Edges to all 3 books has scuffs, Vol I has front cover coming away. Vol III has 1cm tear to top spine. Leather. Etat : Acceptable. No Jacket. This is a three volume set. Volume I: Comedies, 574 pages. Volume II: Tragedies, 554 pages. Volume III: Historical Plays, Poems, and Sonnets, 590 pages. No date found. Leather cover boards, marbled end papers, gilded page edges. The pages are slightly darkened with age and have occasional smudges and light age spots. Two pages of volume one are completly loose but present, otherwise the pages are tight. Volume three contains some pressed leaves. Bindings are good. Embossed leather covers are worn and scuffed around the edges. Gold print on spines is bright. The books are beautifully illustrated throughout. This set of books will look handsome on any bookshelf.

Numerous black & white engravings, including many of famous actors of the day in character.An impressive looking 3 volume set with matching original leather binding, blind stamped with a head of Shakespeare & ornate gilt border & gilt spine decorations. Black leather spine labels, titled in gilt. Marbled endpapers & page edges. Head & foot of each spine has been professionally repaired but making a rather nice job. Minor corner wear but nothing too bad for age. Scattered occassional foxing.
