Textured & raised embossed moire beige-coloured softcovers, red lettering on front cover, yapp edges, punch sewn at spine w/ white silk thread (minor edgewear, 1 very small closed tears, slight soiling), still VG copy. First separate edition of this story of immortality from the famed author, first issued as a short story in The Keepsake for MDCCCXXXIV edited by Frederic Reynolds, and printed by Longman in 1833. Although it appeared several times in omnibuses, this tale recounting the life of Winzy who gains eternal life after drinking a mysterious elixir gaining short-term happiness, but eventually becomes desperate to escape the cage of his body and die.
