Very lively biography of the author`s husband, with whom Flora Shelton lived more than 10 years in the borderland of China and Tibet, mostly at Batang. Shelton helped Eric Teichman to stop the border wars between China and Tibet. In 1922 he wanted to travel to Lhasa, but was shot only a short distance from Batang. Flora was at that time travelling to India, where sponsors enabled her to publish 2 books of stories and songs she translated into Tibetan and her famous Geography which she wrote in Tibetan. Shelton`s collection of Tibetan art is now in Newark Museum. First edition. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

The earliest book published by the Sheltons, who worked with their family in Eastern Tibet, at Batang. Quite open book, Flora Shelton must have been a formidable woman. The book measures 198mm tall x 135mm, and has 319 pages, 16 half-tone plates. Story of Dr Albert L Shelton?s times in Tibet by his wife who was with him much of the time. He was a missionary doctor who was killed by bandits in Tibet, 1922, while wife was in California. With many extracts from his diary. He traveled much in Tibet 1904-22 (described here), prospected gold, was kidnapped, etc. With accounts of Chinese-Tibet conflicts. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
