Hardcover. Etat : Good. Hardcover, quater leather, leather spine and corners, 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, 347 pages. Text in French. Frontispiece. Covers have slight wear to corners. Exterior hinges cracked, but interior hinges tight. Red leather spine label with title in gilt. Foxing to initial and final pages, otherwise pages are clean. I will not ship this book overseas.

Etat : DISCRETO USATO. VED. Francese Opera incompleta composta dai primi otto volumi, i primi cinque impressi nel 1838 e gli altri tre nel 1839. Quinta edizione, lingua francese. Volumi successivamente rilegati in coperte rigide in mezza tela minimamente ingiallite dal tempo ai tagli ed al dorso presentante leggeri segni di usura da scaffale ai bordi. Pagine ad ampio margine naturalemtne e leggermente ingiallite dal tempo e sporadicamente fiorite comunque piacevolmente fruibili alla lettura. Bordi a barbe non perfettamente rifilati. Segno a matita alla controguardia del primo tomo. Da segnalare lieve e naturale ondulazione dei fogli alla cerniera dovuta alla minima umidità dei secoli. Numero pagine per tomo 534, 529, 565, 522, 445, 520, 600, 557. Numero pagine complessive 4272.

Sismondi a étudié les républiques italiennes dans leur organisation intérieure, leurs révolutions, leurs luttes avec les principautés absolues qui s'élevèrent à côté d'elles, dans leurs exploits, dans leurs malheurs jusqu'au jour où elles furent toutes asservies. Il a fortement insisté sur l'influence qu'elles exercèrent sur la civilisation, sur le commerce et sur les arts. Son histoire commence en 476 et s'étend jusqu'à la fin du XVIIIe siècle; mais la période du Moyen âge comprend presque tout l'ouvrage, parce que c'est la seule époque où ces républiques furent vraiment libres et brillantes.
