Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends. Inscription fromsigned with inscription by the author to the half title dated 12.xii.21. Occasional mild foxing. First Edition. Large quarto (32cm). Green cloth, gilt-tooled, top edge gilt; plain endpapers; xiv,88pp; frontispiece and 74 plates of photographs, 4 maps. With 1936 gift inscription, dated from Cairo, and 20th-century bookplate. Straight and sound, cloth lightly rubbed, occasional foxing, but largely clean: Very Good. Kennedy--a civil engineer, mountaineer, and amateur photographer--was one of the first people to document the ruins at Petra, in 1922-24. This volume reproduces numerous detailed photographs of ruins and geological formations.
