Etat : Gut. Ca. 50 Seiten; zahlr. s/w-Illustr.; graph. Darst.; 21 cm; fadengeh., illustr. Broschur. Gutes Exemplar; der illustr. Einband berieben; leichte Gebrauchs- u. Lagerspuren. - Englisch. - Denmark is visited every year by a great number of foreign architects. Some of them would like to gain an impression of Danish architecture in general; others are interested in a specific subject and would like to study, e. g. school buildings or housing. Several kinds of guidance are necessary in order to derive sufficient benefit from such a visit. One of the aids is a list of recently constructed buildings. The present guide contains mainly works completed during the last ten years or so. It presents but a small section of the total building activity. But the attempt has been made to present a representative selection of buildings, in regard to their layout as well as their architectural design. Among the buildings listed, 49 have been selected to be shown by a photograph as well as a drawing. These illustrated examples will enable those who merely wish to see a few, but architecturally noteworthy buildings to make an easier selection. Each building is identified by an address so that its position can be found in any of the town maps with gazetteer available in every bookshop. The reference in brackets, shown after the address, relates to the map of Copenhagen, published by the Geodetic Institute. The illustrated examples are numbered, and the situation is marked with a corresponding number on the plan in the back of the ,Guide". The plan is a schematic reproduction of the Copenhagen Map mentioned above. If details of the building have been published in one of the Danish journals Arkitekten, Arkitektur or Spatium, the volume and number of the journal are stated. In most cases, the relevant number of the journal will be out of print; but photocopies of the articles can be made available by many public libraries or university libraries. The guide is published by the Danish Architectural Press, Copenhagen, in cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the Federation of Danish Architects. kart. / Paperback. Etat : Gut. 56 S. : zahlr. Ill. This skilled architect and industrial designer is well known not only in Denmark, but also in the rest of the world. Written with eloquence and beautifully illustrated, this magnificent book explores the range of his work, such as his building at Odense University, Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen, and the National Museum in Bahrain. For Holscher, who was strongly influenced by his mentor Arne Jacobsen, architecture and design have nothing to do with accidental qualities that vary through time according to aesthetic conventions. Rather, he believes it as an intrinsic dimension in our perception of the world. , English, Year2000, Illust. B/W132, Illust. Color249, ISBN 393069879x, Code 4410. RETAIL ONLY.
