Edition originale
Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Two works in one volume. Both are first editions. Quarto: [*Poems*]: [16], 230pp., and 2 folded engraved plates; [*Psalms*]: [16], 183, [1]pp. Each work has a subscribers list at the front, the title page of the *Psalms of David* is printed in red and black. Smart's *Translation of the Psalms of David* includes the 35 Hymns but lacks the Spiritual Songs at the rear, else complete. Half calf and marbled paper-covered boards, later endpapers. Both joints have been professionally repaired, wear to the board edges, else a handsome, very good copy. Signed by American poet Edward Dahlberg in pencil with his New York address. Engraved bookplate of Thomas B. Mosher laid in. Both lists of subscribers include many famous persons of the day: David Garrick, Thomas Gray, Samuel Richardson, Voltaire, and many others. With two fine engraved plates (The Mowers, and Hop Garden) engraved by Charles Grignion the Elder. Both works are scarce and rarely found bound together, with a nice association. *ESTC* T42626 and T12464.
