This report is essentially concerned with the pottery of Mayapan, a site in the central western part of the State of Yucatan in Mexico. This report is part of a larger Mayapan study. Mayapan was selected for intensive research and excavation (1951-1955) for a number of reasons. Foremost of these was to study the later prehistoric career of the Maya in Yucatan, a career which had some documentation in historical records and in the native literature exemplified by the Books of Chilam balsam, the Ritual of the Bacabs and the Maya codices.
