Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Cloth, 139 pages, illustrations (some colour); 29 cm. Firm binding, clean inside copy. Age toning. Dust jacket toned, with light shelfwear, protected in a mylar cover. OVERSIZE! No priority/international, except by special arrangement. Ben Shahn started out as a Social Realist in the first half of the century, then veered more towards Judaica, allegorical compositions, and commercial work as he had to tamper down his political concerns during the McCarthy period, when he was targeted by right-wingers for his liberal-leftist politics (notably his support for the anarchists Sacco & Vanzetti). Probably better known for his graphic work than as a painter. Size: 4to.
