Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A very nice copy of this wonderfully humourous book, being the author's first published book. Mark Spade being the pseudonym of Nigel Balchin who became more famous for his wartime and post WWII novels. Much sought after, this is the first impression, published in 1934. Unfortunately there is no dust jacket. The blue cloth boards are sound, with clear title lettering to the spine and the front board, albeit there is a little spotting and very light soiling to the boards. Also minor knocking to the fore edge corner tips and rubbing to the spine ends. There are no inscriptions and the pages are clean throughout. On much closer inspection there is a little toning to the end papers and page block edge and, hardly even noticeable, there are a few early pages with tiny dogeared corners. Make no mistake though that this is a very sound and collectable condition copy indeed. Photos on request.
