Light tanning to pages, pastedowns and free endpapers. More prominent to text block edges. Light creasing to gutters; some slight looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has minor tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Minimal foxing and tanning to endpapers and page edges. Both hinges cracked with netting visible, thus the boards are slack. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with splitting to spine ends. Notable sunning to spine and board edges, with scuffing, staining and marking to boards.

This is a beautiful and special blue leather-bound book made specially for the North Eastern County School (Founded in 1883 in Barnard Castle, County Durham, U.K.). Original 1898 fifth edition published by E. & F. N. Spon, Ltd. (London and New York). The inside of this special edition has a pastedown label from the North Eastern County School and states that this book was awarded to "William Percy Jones" as an Engineering Prize in 1901. Percy Jones, a young Welsh civil engineer and a nephew of railroad builder Morgan Jones, was a pioneer of West Texas. It also contains Percy Jones later insertion of his personal bookplate on the opposite marbled end paper. This beautiful handsome leather book has the banded spine and heavy with gilt decoration - both on the front cover and spine. All 702 pages are immaculate and in very good condition. (BR) Box 331.
