Soft cover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition, Illustrated Edition. This is an antique copy of "Great Fighters and Boxers - Psychology of the Ring" - Including Some Very Interesting Stories Not Generally Known by Marshall Stillman. 1920 1st edition; Marshall Stillman Association; New York. Softcover. Book three. The book contains photographs throughout of early boxers such as John Sullivan, James Corbett, Jack Dempsey, Jack Johnson, and many more. There is a list of "Heavyweight Champions" from 1719 to 1919 at the front. From the Introduction: "In this book the idea is to explain features of the sport of boxing as shown by some of the most prominent battlers of the ring. Not only is it necessary to have full knowledge of the correct manner of using all the blows and guards of the game, and a thorough knowledge of ducking and foot work, but it is also highly essential to be posted on the mental attitude of one's opponent. Many a bout is won before a blow is struck. If a boxer is wise he will protect himself against mental attacks." Condition: The front cover has some small, light stains; clean back cover with some partial fading of the paper. Creasing at the outer corners of the front cover. Tight binding with no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. The pages are mostly clean with the exception of the first few and last few pages, which have light foxing. The title page and page 5 each has some light smudging at the outer edge. The inside front cover has a couple small stain spots at the bottom edge. Page 88 has a tiny tear at the outer edge. Overall the book is in Good condition.
