Hard cover. 7th printing, in 3 months. 571 p. Back textured cloth over boards. Stamped gold titles, front, spine. 24 cm. Plates: facsimile cartoons, artwork. US History / American Studies / Journalism. Over 50 years, newspaperman Henry L Stoddard observed the political scene in America, ending his career with the acquisition and merging of New York's Evening Mail in 1924 from Stoddard by Frank Munsey of the Evening Telegram. The result became The New York World-Telegram by 1931. During the World War I era, the Evening Mail was involved in a controversy as to whether it had become German-owned. There is no clear reference in this book to that discussion. Very good. No dust jacket. Durable volume of high quality production materials. Rubbing to spine titles, readable still. 1.
