Emily Symonds (1860-1936) was both a novelist and playwright. Her first novels were published in 1894 and were admired by Arnold Bennett. Her novels, including this title, emphasized the attraction of a professional career for women. She was the niece of John Addington Symonds. Bound in original green cloth with gilt title and author to front cover and spine. Covers are bumped, rubbed, and chipped. Interior pages are browned and brittle. A good plus copy only. 289 pages.
