Soft cover. Etat : Good. Hadrian's Wall was not really excavated and documented very well until fairly recently. Much of the Wall was in private hands and trying to walk the Wall was difficult. This is a fascinating booklet about what it was possible to do and see in the 1950s. It looks at Hexham and then the forts along the Wall and those parts of the Wall that were accessible. A few maps and illustrations and a photo of the wall on the front cover by J.A. Davidson. Paperback booklet. Text is Very Good in somewhat marked pictorial cover. [Cost 1/6].

Hard Cover. Etat : Near Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Reprinted with Corrections. 945 pp, 9 1/2" H. "This major effort of a large group of scholars working in the field of Canadian literature provides a comprehensive, up-to-date reference work on the English literary history of Canada. It will be invaluable as a source of information on authors, genres, and literary trends and influences. It is also a fascinating account, lively and well written, of the ways in which writers have over the centuries striven to record reactions to a powerful natural environment and to their society against the background of other literary traditions in English. This volume represents a positive attempt to give a history of Canada in terms of writings which deserve attention because of significant thought, form, and use of language; it also aims to contribute to criticism by offering reasons for singling out those works regarded as the best." Very minor edge wear to boards. Dust jacket is price-clipped, has light edge wear/wrinkling - mainly at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, slight fading to spine color, light rubbing on spine.
