First impression of the true first edition - second issue, in light blue cloth with spine lettering stamped in black instead of gold, and without the blind-stamped publisher's motif to the rear board. With a foreword by W. H. Hudson. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with black titles to spine and black titles and borders to front board. Boards slightly marked. Owner's name and date in neat fountain pen ink to front free endpaper: 'R.R.S. Bennett Oct 3rd 1938'. Light offsetting and light foxing to front and rear free endpapers. Very light water marks to edges of front and rear pastedowns not affecting interior pages which are clean. Spine tight. Edges of boards slightly rubbed.
