Etat : Like New. Condition: Fine; Dust Jacket Condition: Reprint c. 1940s. Small 4to, 297 pgs. Full bound yellow cloth with brilliant pictorial paper label on front board, black title and elephant on spine. Blank endpapers, no color plates. Book is clean crisp and solid. DJ is also bright and clean with minor chipping at head of rear panel, including a 3/4'' x 1/4'' open tear near spine. This is a later printing with titles through "Magical Mimics in Oz" (1946) listed on DJ flap. A lovely reprint. Hardcover.

Etat de la jaquette : Poor. reprint edition no color plates good condition hard cover, blue boards, pictorial pastedown cover in a poor/good dust jacket clean pages , the jacket is actually very nice but the bottom 3 inches from front and rear board in are stuck to boards, and 1 inch from bottom to where paper is totaly free Probably peel off nicely but there will be some loss , from jacket or from pictorial cover. I do not want to take the chance. With bookplate verso of endpaper and facing dedication page, that has pencil name flaps free but corner clipped.

Bound in publisher's brick red cloth with full color pictorial pastedown on front board, black stamped title and long-legged horse on spine. First Edition with 12 color plates, black and white pictorial endpapers, pages 126 & 127 are printed in correct order, undamaged "r" in "morning" on pg 116, line 1. Paper label scuffed, soiling to back cover, some wear to cloth at spine ends and board cornertips. Hinges have been reglued, pencil marks on pg 36, some occasional finger smudges. Illustrated by John R. Neill.

Boards show very minor bumping to front top corner, else in remarkably good condition: clean, very bright, with pictorial cover in very bright unmarked condition. Dustjacket has very minor chipping with tiny closed tears to extremities and spine head/tail, spine lightly sunned, else very bright. With all points for first edition, first state as noted by Hanff and Greene: front is self-endpaper, rear is inserted. Hardcover.
