Edition : First, Recent 1/4 gilt lined calf with contemporary marble boards, spine in six compartments of raised blind-tooled bands and gilt floral motifs, gilt green morocco title label on two, gilt text on six. , This is the folio plate volume of one of the most beautiful Dutch pattern books of designs for staircases and lanterns. With their steep rises and narrow treads the majority of the staircases (a number of them spiral) are clearly designed to be installed in the tall, narrow town houses typical of those found in Amsterdam. Despite the constraints imposed on their construction, they are enriched with exuberant rococo detailing. A text volume was issued with the plates but this is seldom found., Size : Folio., With engraved half-title, title-page with engraved vignette, engraved dedication leaf, and 30 numbered engraved double-page plates., References : Berlin Cat. 2253, P. half-title, blank, title, blank, dedication, 30 double-page plates. A fine copy, plates are clean and crisp.
