Folded and gathered sheets, never bound, as issued. _____ The publisher's slug runs down the spine seam. _____ A greatly abbreviated version of Todd's 1842 story of Frances Slocum (cf: Ayer 297, Howes.3 T-290). _____ In 1778 she was captured by Lenape Indians at the age of 5 and transported to Indiana where she spent the rest of her life with the Miamis in Indiana. _____ The last 3 pages are an extract of George Catlin's description of portrait painting among the Mandan tribe. _____ Undated, but probably published in the 1840s-50s. _____ This version is quite uncommon, none being listed in WorldCat. _____ There is a dampline down the spine of the outermost sheets, never affecting the text._____.
