Contemporary cloth. moderate wear from a rural NH library with plates & a pocket, loaned out only a few times, nice condition. . After attending Yale and Harvard and studying law, Camp enlisted in the Union Army, was wounded in the Battle of Roanoke Island, participated in the first expedition against Charleston, was taken prisoner, and finally killed in battle at Richmond. Book.

Soft cover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. Disbound but tight in two parts with an inscription "presented to Mr. Twitchell by the request of the late Mrs. E.B. Preston, Feb. 25th, 1868" on the ffep. Two sections include A Useful Life and Fragrant Memory by Turnbull and the Commemorative Address given by Fiske on June 24th, 1866 at the Second Congregational Church in Rockville, Conn. With 3 early photographs including frontispiece of Preston. Book has gilt edges and photos are in Very Good or better condition.

A little wear to the spines top and bottom tabs. The front cover leans a little forward of the back cover. The gilded lettering on the spine are very bright. No dust jacket. 335 pages.

Occasional margin soil. Faded water mark on top foredge and top margin of a few pages. Text is unaffected. Gilt title on spine still readable.

No photograph of Sergeant Manning in this edition. Unsure if it came with one. Scarce.
