Edition originale
First edition. Octavo, pp. [1-6] [1-2] 3-333 [334: blank], original brown cloth, front panel ruled in blind, spine panel stamped in gold. Interlocking sequence of macabre mysteries, involving vampirism, metempsychosis and cursed gems, in addition to the usual murder and mayhem. Clearly influenced by Robert Louis Stevenson's NEW ARABIAN NIGHTS (1882), with most supernatural elements being rationalized at denouement. Episodic, but cleverly constructed, with good weird atmosphere. Bleiler (1978), p. 197. Reginald 14374. Slight wear to spine ends and corner tips, a very good or somewhat better copy with a chipped front panel of the dust jacket and front flap laid in. (22975).

A fine copy in very good plus pictorial dust jacket (illustrated with a fine seance scene by A. D. Rahn) with some wear with slight loss at spine ends and corner tips, some mild general dust soiling, mainly to rear panel. A nice example of the jacket. (#130571).
