Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. A huge work complete in fifteen volumes from the recognised beginnings of English literature to the nineteenth century. Volume XVconsists of a comprehensive index. 6242pp. This is the so-called 'cheap' edition that did not include the illustrations of the first, 1907, edition and two re printings that preceded it. A volumes uniformly bound in blue cloth boards, all volumes are sunned to spine and have minor shelf-wear. Upper page edges are dyed blue. A small number of pages remain uncut. Volumes XI to XV have a little water staining to the lower page edges, on volumes XIII to XV this extends to the lower front boards, the text is unaffected. The collection weighs in excess of 8.8kg so additional postage is likely to be requested.

In the original publisher's uniform full cloth binding. Externally very smart with light bumping to head and tail of spine. Boards only lightly marked. Minor closed tear to tail of rear joint vol II affecting spine slightly horizontally with a light lift of back strip. Minor fading to back strip of the occasional volume. Neat previous owner's gift inscription to front free endpaper vol XII, dated 1943. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
