Livre Edition originale
No Binding. Etat : Very Good. Drawn By Chartran (illustrateur). First. A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of the Marchioness of Waterford - a straightforward portrait not a caricature. The portrait has been trimmed close but with no loss.

Edité par Joseph Cundall, London., 1849
Vendeur : Peter Ellis, Bookseller, ABA, ILAB, London, Royaume-Uni
Edition originale
First edition. Folio. 10 steel engraved plates, with paper guards, by John Brandard (after the Marchioness of Waterford), this being the very rare Large Paper hand-coloured issue. Original red paper boards lettered in gilt and rebacked with red cloth.Joseph Cundall wrote under the pseudonym of "Stephen Percy", was a pioneer photographer, and a publisher of children's books for which he commissioned some of the best artists of the day. The present title was the most ambitious of Cundall's books, printed in the year he went bankrupt. The sheets were properly hand-coloured as opposed to stencilled. Cover edges stained and quite rubbed at the edges but the text, bar a little marginal marking and creasing, is very good. A superb example of a Victorian gift book.
