Dutton, is dated 1900, and the book appears to be contemporaneous. Pages clean except for a prior owner's name and notes on the front endpapers and some age-toning in margins throughout; stitching relaxed, but binding remains secure; full blue cloth hard cover shows some toning at the spine and some fading of the black inkstamped title and decoration on the front, some softening at spine ends, and points of modest shelfwear at corners; otherwise sound. 116pp. The pamphlet laid in at the front also shows toning and prior owners' marks as well as some handling stains front and back, but provides a different author's 24pp. of lessons in mesmerism. I've left the prior owner's penciled note (laid in near the end) about Ezekiel 16:6 so that you, too, can puzzle over its presence and meaning.; 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

Condition: Light staining to the covers and spine. Cloth tears at the cover corners; the top-left corner of the back cover is chipped. Cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and at the left edge of the spine. Light stain at the upper-outer cover corners. There is cracks at the front and rear hinges between the end papers and pastedowns resulting in the covers being a bit shaky. The front blank end paper has been removed. The text pages are age-toned, though clean with only a small, dark stain spot at the lower-outer corner of pages 151-159. The blank back-side of the frontispiece has a light stain at the top-right corner. Ex-library with a "Sherburne Public Library" label affixed to the front pastedown, and a "Due Date" slip affixed to the rear pastedown.no other library markings found. The rear end paper has a 1" tear at the bottom edge, and chipping along the outer edge. A perfectly good reading copy with nice text pages, but in overall Fair condition only.
