Hardback thick small octavo, no jacket as issued, very good condition, brown leatherette cover (embossed gilt lettering front cover & spine), top edge little foxed, otherwise excellent. 466 pp. Title continues: "With a particular enumeration of the advantages which these colonies offer for emigration, and their superiority in many respects over those possessed by the United States of America". Facsimile of the first edition published in 1819. William Wentworth was Australia's first native-born patriot, statesman, explorer, orator and promoter. He explains the colony's benefits and defects and their resolution (which he worked on for the next 30 years). He supported Governor Macquarie's expansion and Australia's independence. The foreword in 1978 was written by his grandson, of the same name, who was also a politician. (The publisher, Doubleday, is printed on the spine only.).

Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. Not only a First edition but the first Australian book published by a native of Australia and an important historical book by one its most famous founders. Half leather with gilt decorated spine, blue marbled boards and marbled text block edge. Chipping to board edges Name at top of title page. Tight binding. most pages very clean. some browning to paste down and last page and end page. A blank end page is torn out leaving a remnant but as there are two not of consequence. A good used collectible book Size - 218mm. x 135mm., Pp466.

Contents : slight foxing to eps + title page, 8 pages have browning stain in lower margin else very clean & tight. Bright attractive copy. VG.
