Russet cloth stamped in black & gilt, binding very good with a couple of small nicks to the edge of the spine, 7 x 4 1/2 inches. 278 clean pp., tight, decorative pieces at the head of each chapter. A book of teaching on practical holiness. "In the very outset, then, settle down on this thing, that Jesus came to save you, now, in this life, from the power and dominion of sin, and to make you more than conquerors through His power. If you doubt this, search your Bible " Hannah Whitall Smith (1832-1911), US evangelist, reformer, suffragist, author. She championed feminist causes and the right of young women to attend college; co-founded Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was born into a Quaker family but by 1865 she moved into the holiness revival movement. She and her husband became prominent as speakers, authors, and publishers. "In 1875 she published The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life, a guide to sanctification and complete surrender to the divine will that was translated into several languages and sold some two million copies around the world." - Encyclopedia Britannica.
