First Edition. 4to; 80 [2]pp; tan cloth over board with stamped color pictorial in of a boy and girl carrying this book facing each other, and the title; pictorial endpapers printed in dark green, bookplate to front pastedown; pictorial title page; many of the poems printed within a pictorial border; half-tone illustrations almost every page; light soiling and rubbing to cover, some color loss, ffep has scratches where something seems to have been pasted; very good. Short rhymes and poems, some old nursery rhymes re-worked, all with illustrations featuring children. Wonderful illustrations by Ruth Mary Hallock (1876-1945), an American painter known for her gentle depictions of children and use of soft colors.
