Spines faded with some softening to ends and discolouration. Corners bumped. Bookplates on front endpapers. Yellow front free endpaper missing in vol. 1. Plates are based on the watercolor paintings of Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917) whose initials appear as A.F.L. on the plates. Lydon was an English watercolour artist, illustrator, and engraver of natural history and landscapes.
