Etat : Fair. 1956. First Edition. 222 pages. Illustrated dust jacket over green cloth boards with gilt lettering. Slight crinkling to paper at gutter. Clean pages with light tanning and foxing to text block edges. Binding is firm throughout with minor thumb-marking. Heavier tanning to free endpapers and first page textblock. Pen and pencil inscription markings to front pastedown and first page textblock. Front free endpaper is missing. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Slight crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Moderate sunning to spine and edges. Minor wear marks to boards. Unclipped jacket. Panels and spine have moderate edgewear with chips, tears and creases. Moderate loss to spine and panel.

The covers are very tight; sunned spine and edges; spine cloth ends bumped. Unmarked end papers. Lightly tanned cut edges. The text block is tightly bound, and not tanned or foxed; early pages have slight vertical crease. No dedications etc. In quite good pictorial dust jacket with seated man with drink and standing lady in cape to front and black titles. The jacket is clean, edges chipped with small open and closed tears.Not price clipped.

There were a few small chips to the dustjacket but this has been repaired with colour like paper to the rear and is now housed in a removable archival sleeve. The colours remain vibrant with minor dulling to the lighter areas. Green cloth boards with black and green lettering to the spine. Top edge and spine have faded in comparison to the boards in general.
