This is the English-language edition of a massive photo-biography of the Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. It has text and 500 captioned photos, many in full color, and half of which have never been published before. Chapters include: Revolutionary and Statesman; Soldier; With Leaders of Democratic Parties and Social Celebrities; Foreign Relations; Among the People; Personal Life. Bound in the original silver cloth, lettered in shiny gold. "We have got hold of some invaluable historical shots of Deng Xiaoping from the archives of the state and the Army, from the collections of Deng's comrades-in-arms and his relatives and from historical documentaries. For instance, the earliest photo in this book was taken 66 years ago in March 1921 in France. The photo of the site of the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Shanghai, where Deng once worked in the days of the White terror has been retained to this day because a staff member who left there for Yan'an hid it in his cotton-padded coat and passed safely through the enemy-occupied lands." -- (postscript). . Small Chinese colour poster, horizontal fold apparently as issued, designed to display with photos taken by Xinhua News Agency. Lower section shows two examples of Chinese cultural relics discovered during the Cultural Revolution. Four small pin-holes corners and edges with light stain marks. generally very good. Blocks of text upper and middle sections in Chinese. Sheet measures 26.1 x 39cm. Text on lower edge reads "Xinhua News Agency news displayed photo, serial number 1416, August 1971".

Three editorials from Xinhua News Agency dated between 2 March and 6 March 1979 were published during the Sino-Vietnamese War. The issues were re-printed and distributed by the General Office of Jiangxi Provincial Government shortly after the editorials were published. Issues no. 9 and 10: single sheet printed on both sides, pages numbered. Issue no. 14: two sheets printed on both side, pages numbered. Staples removed leaving small pin holes, edges torn, a 5.5cm horizontal closed tear on lower section of Issue 9. Even foxing and some soiling. Text in Chinese. 26.5 x 19cm when folded. An Original upper cover with small pin holes attached to Issue no.9 showing the editorials were gathered and distributed to a mechanical company in Jiujiang District by the General Office of the Jiangxi Provincial Government. The Sino-Vietnamese war fought between 17 February and 16 March 1979.

A broken run of special propaganda periodicals, written by the journalists from Xinhua News agency between 21 February 1979 and 11 March 1979, compiled by the General Office of Jiangxi Provincial Government. Pages in each vary between 4pp -12pp. Evenly browned with occasional foxing, small tears on edges issue no. 15, small pin-holes left edge suggesting the issues were bound together at one stage, generally good in wrappers. Text in Chinese. 26.1 x 18.7cm. The Self-defence War against Vietnam also known as the Sino-Vietnamese War took place on the borders between the two nations from 17 February to 16 March 1979. Editorials in this collection mainly exoll Chinese military victories in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. Most issues also include news from the war front as well as the statements from international communities.

Combined edition of Chinese language newspaper reporting 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games (25 July to 9 August 1992) organised by Xinhua News Agency and published by Olympic Express Agency. It covers the period from July 4th to August 12th 1992 issued daily. This collection has a total of 39 issues bound together but lacks the first issue (July 4th) and the upper wrapper, paper spine is damaged with loss, pictorial lower wrapper present. Each issue runs for 8 pages printed on double sided. Binding very poor but the issues themselves are in good condition. Text in Chinese. 38 x 26.1cm. Working copy only. The 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona were the third Olympic Games the People's Republic of China participated in after a long absence (1956 - 1980). China won 16 gold, 22 silver and 22 bronze medals in total, and ranked 4th at that game. Many historical records were achieved for the Chinese team, including a big breakthrough for the swimming team, winning a combined 4 golds and 5 silvers. World famous table-tennis player Deng Yaping went home with both single and double gold medals and was honourably presented the medals by IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch.

Photographs measure 20.2 x 15.3cm, illustrated sheet measures 38.6 x 27cm. One photograph torn in two places at margin, one tear extending one centimetre into the upper right section of the image, the other confined to the margin. Text in Chinese. These photographs were taken and exhibited by Xinhua News Agency. The brief explanatory notes state that "Taiwan, including Penghu Islands and other affiliated islands, is China's largest Island." This collection shows images of Alishan, Bitan, Sun Moon Lake, women dressed in Taiwan's minority traditional costumes, a banana market, pineapple farm, and more.

This collection shows images of a bird's-eye-view of east region of Hong Kong, congested roads and highways, harbours in Kowloon, Aberdeen Tunnel, Victoria Harbour, fish market in the New Territories, old railway station in Kowloon and more.
