Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary is an artificial planted forest of the Forest Department, Govt. of West Bengal. The unique feature of this forest is that it provides the nesting place for many migratory and some resident birds species. Every year, a huge number of Asian open billed stork, Cormorant, Heron, Egret and other bird species used to come in this Sanctuary for their breeding purposes. The main attraction of various migratory birds species is to find safe nesting zone, availability of nesting materials, suitable climatic conditions and plenty of food materials. No intraspecific and interspecific tussle for food materials are observed in this sanctuary. This book has been made basically on some ecological factors of the Sanctuary that influence the bird's breeding life and safety of their newborn individuals. The present observations have been made to study some aspects of breeding behavior, diversity in nest pattern and parental care of diverse migratory bird species in the Sanctuary. Many factors are associated for the purpose of breeding, nest site selection and day to day activities of various migratory species. The main objective of this study is to investigate the factors that affecting the bird's population in the forest area of the Raiganj Wild Life Sanctuary. Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary accommodates a good number of flora which attracts the various bird species ( migratory and nonmigratory ). The surrounding environment is very calm. A minimum types of disturbances were there which does not interfere with the normal life of the migratory bird species.
