Folio. 71, [1] pp. Photo frontisp., black & white and colour photo plates, illustrations throughout, double-page colour centerfold. Photo-illustrated softcovers, drawings of the facade and sanctuary on endpapers (minor edgewear, very slight rubbing, discount price in ink on back cover), still VG bright copy, signed by Ansel Adams on title. First edition, signed, of this surprisingly uncommon photographic essay of one of America's most impressive Catholic Missions, founded in 1692. The surviving Mission was designed by Ignacio Gaona, architect, and constructed by the local indigenous Tohono O'odham Peoples, and also features the wooden statue of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American saint in the Roman Catholic Church. Hamlin's drawings detail the facade and interior of San Xavier identifying the saints and motifs of the famed mission.
