Softcover. Etat : Near fine. Jimi Dams (illustrateur). First edition. The sixteen "Sonetti Lussuriosi" by Italian Renaissance author Pietro Aretino first appeared in 1527 and were promptly placed on the Index of Forbidden Books by the Catholic Church. Despite this, the Sonetti became a classic of European erotic literature. This new Dutch translation consists of the original Italian sonnets, followed by a faithful translation by Jan-Paul van Spaendonck and a freer one by Geerten Meijsing. They added an extensive afterword and Jimi Dams made erotic pen drawings. The large format book (30 cm) is set by hand and printed by hand press on scooped Zerkall, in a cover of blood red Fabriano Murillo and in slipcase, large initials in color, and with the detailed afterword in a separate matching booklet. 156 pages. Edition of 55 numbered copies signed by both translators and the illustrator. 2 vols., text vol.: 133p., ills. by J. DAMS, orig. stiff paper wr. (w. printed title and "exemplaar gedrukt voor Th.A.
