Softcover. Original. Cream wraps with decorative plum trefoil motif and plum lettering. 14 pp. with 65 bw plates. Catalogue of 65 items from the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) collection of European printed textiles. Includes a foreword by Leigh Ashton, Director of the V&A from 1945 to 1955. The actual catalogue annotations, listings and introduction were prepared by Gerard Brett during his tenure as Assistant Keeper of the Department of Textiles. The textiles herein range from the 13th to the 19th centuries. This is Large Picture Book No. 4 from the museum's series of guide books for sale, published in 1949. Good+ contents, clean and tight but with age toning to some page edges. Front cover nearly detached but present. Spine a bit age toned and worn with 1-inch piece missing from head. Art museum ex-lib. copy with sticker, bar code, and stamp. No lib. marks to text/images.
