This is the English language edition of the catalogue raisonne dedicated to the woodcuts of Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup (1880-1928), translated from the original Norwegian (Nikolai Astrup - Tresnitt). It marks the first time Astrup's woodcuts have been collected in book form, and the first time since 1956 that a catalogue of his woodcuts has been published. Compiler Kari Greve is Paper Conservator at Norway's National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. Essays by Oystein Loge (Astrup - the Painter as a Graphic Artist) and Oda Wildhagen Gjessing (Nikolai Astrup and Edvard Munch) place Astrup's work in broader context.
