Halbert and Timothy H. Ball (Halbert had been a soldier in the War, and what he and Ball wrote was based on conversations with veterans). This 1969 revision is edited by Frank L. Owsley, Jr. with his notes and introduction. Hardcover (brown. black lettering on the spine) Ex-Library with usual markings. Good-to-Very Good condition. Slight rubs on the covers, slight usual wear on the corners and spine. Scattered illustrations. Pages may be lightly tanned (or that may be the original color of the paper); otherwise, clean, bright, and unmarked. 334 pages of original text, including author's 3 page index 29 pages of editor's notes, 9 pages of editor's bibliography, 18 pages editor's index. Tight binding. Packaged using bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box. Tracking number provided for no extra cost. Hardcover. First Edition. Very near fine in its original brown cloth covered boards with slightly faded gilt text on the spine and with blind embossed borders on the boards. A small octavo of 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/4 inches with repairs to the front and rear hinges. The contents are tight and clean and free of any marks or damage. Without a dust jacket. 331 pages followed by an index. Illustrated with portrait of the two authors from photographs, a frontispiece from an engraving, a fold-out map and several maps within the text as well as many vignettes. In his bibliography U.S.Iana Wright Howes states of this title: "Careful and detailed monograph on Alabama's last border war." He also indicates that this title represents a book which is "quite scarce". (Howes, H-28).
