Hardcover. Etat : Very Good+. 1st Edition. First edition, September 1910. Green cloth with front cover pictorially stamped in gilt and ivory, with a paste-on color illustration. Top edge gilt. Lightly worn at spine ends and corners. Inner hinges good. Interior is unmarked. A few pages show light soiling, but overall is generally clean. 218, [1] pages. 8.25 x 6 inches. A pretty little love story, telling of a young man who comes home after studying painting in Paris. He is loafing along the shore when he happens to find a little tea shop and becomes enamored of the young woman who tends it. Written by a popular and prolific novelist of the time, Ralph Henry Barbour (1870-1944). It features five full-page, color illustrations by Clarence F. Underwood (1871-1929), noted for his illustrating of more than forty Saturday Evening Post covers. Another illustrator, Edward Stratton Holloway (1859-1939), contributes margin decorations to each page, being a series of eight sketches which repeat throughout. An attractive copy.
