Ajouter au panierSoft cover. Etat : Near Fine. 1st Edition. BÉAR, Liza, and Willoughby SHARP (editors). Avalanche Magazine. New York, Kineticism Press, 1970-1972. First six issues of the independent art magazine Avalanche, closely associated with post-minimalist, post-studio conceptual artists. Co-founded and edited by New York-based filmmaker Liza Béar and artist Willoughby Sharp, Avalanche Magazine was published for thirteen issues between 1970 and 1976. Replete with artist interviews, documentation of performances, and original pieces, Avalanche serves as a crucial primary source for understanding the conceptual art scene in New York during the early 1970s. The magazine provided artists with a platform to share their voices and an exhibition space to engage with the readers. Seen as a counterpart to Andy Warhol's magazine Interview, Avalanche played a crucial role in connecting the experimental art scenes of New York and Europe. These first six issues feature works and interviews by renowned artists such as Vito Acconci, Joseph Beuys, Yves Klein, Jannis Kounellis, Bruce Nauman, Yvonne Rainer, and Lawrence Weiner. Six quarto volumes (Fall 1970, Fall 1971, Winter 1971, Lenz 1972, Summer 1972, Fall 1972); light wear to spines, some occasional creasing at edges, staples slightly rusted, but overall very good.
