Soft cover. Etat : New. 1st Edition. Brand new SIGNED first edition book is a crisp, unmarked, uncreased 270 pp paperback. It has an ink presentation on the title page from compiler The Reverend Edward R. Frank and says "To Michelle, Best wishes and good health. Fr. Edward R. Frank". Book is bound in red card covers displaying the Belle Meade hunt button with stylized fox mask and gilt title on front cover, gilt "A History Of Belle Meade Hunt' title on the spine and an entire poem in gilt covering the rear cover. Poem is entitled "Belle Meade Toast" and was written by Mrs. W.L.M. 'Pinky' Knox, Poet Laureate of Belle Meade Hunt. She wrote it in Feb 1967 for her brother-in-law, Mr. Peter S. Knox Jr. MFH to recite at Belle Meade's first hunt ball. It is a sweet, heartfelt ditty I can't help but share here. 'BELLE MEADE TOAST' " It's the grandest sport and the greatest thrill, to chase the fox from hill to hill. Through countryside rolling o'er fields and streams, It's the kind of a course that fulfills sportsmen's dreams. The hunters impatiently ride to and fro, But dash like the wind at the cry, "Tally-Ho!" The horses are lathered, they too seem to sense . The joy and excitement of clearing a fence. So here at the close of a wonderful day, of foxhunting and fellowship, may I tribute pay? To the Masters and staff and the keeper of hounds, Our toasts and our praises to all know no bounds. Tonight with the Stirrup Cup full and o'erflowing, We toast one and all who keep foxhunting going. Who join in the chase, though they may take a spill, and who keep coming back, be it sunny or chill. May the joy that results from this sporting event, Make us healthy and happy and always content". This hunt history includes a myriad of b/w photos gathered through the years, plus 8 pages of color photos in the rear. Photographs by Linda McFarland, Debbie Turner, Jim Meads (UK) and Alex Pacheco. Pages are glossy, show no page turning 'dents'. This is a collection of articles written by many involved in the Belle Meade Hunt over the past forty years. The chapters are chronologically ordered by the years they were published in the Belle Meade Hunt annual magazine. Realizing the impossibility of including all articles, every effort was made to choose articles that would give varying points of perspective as well as valuable information and insight. Where possible the names of those who wrote the articles are included below the article title. A sporting museum quality offering that is more than suitable for gift-giving. Inscribed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Evanston, IL: Clark Publishing Company, 1950. The September, 1950 issue of Fate Magazine, Volume 4, Number 5, a scarce issue in Raymond A. Palmer's now-legendary paranormal-reporting non-fiction enterprise, which began with, in its first issue, Kenneth Arnold's cover account of flying crescents which "skipped like saucers across a pond", an event which, for whatever reason, kicked off the modern era of UFO events. After that, Fate introduced countless events which remain, to this day, fodder for paranormal documentaries and investigation. 12mo, illustrated perfect-bound wraps, 98 pp. A much better than Very Good example, approaching Near Fine copy but for an small-scale top edge and a lightly touched lower right corner (see scans). As always in 50s pulps, some modest age-toning to the newsprint paper pages, which remain fully supple. See scans. High grade condition for a periodical which often shows substantial wear from use. See scans. Cover has the look of a J. Allen St. John work, but is in fact uncredited. See the scanned image of the contents page for the articles herein, which cover such topics as Hypnotism, Possessed Theater Jacket, Bleeding Sugar Cane, Oliver Lerch, Phantom Billiard Player, Hex, Bleeding Saint, Pan, Spirit Sculpting, Black Magic, Lincoln Prophecies, Flyings Saucers, Midget Mummy (a piece by founder Ray Palmer on a 14" tall adult mummy, Interplanetary Man, and of course much, much else, including the standard Departments, always engrossing in themselves, all on various other paranormal or inexplicable phenomena. Interior art and photography is largely uncredited. A piece of paranormal history, and an example of a unique branch of Americana, in very highly collectible condition. A very rare issue.
