Cover cloth darkened toward some edges and along spine panel (likely smoke damage), endpapers dampstained and stained by cover dye, page edges darkened, some leaves detached (but intact). Quite worn but complete and still useful copy, sold as is, with all faults. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Book.

This copy is in near fine condition bound in burgundy cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine and the upper board where there is also a blind thistle device. This copy is bright, tight, white and square There are some typical rubs and bumps to the extremities. There is a pencilled signature to the f.e.p. and a stamp of the issuing bookseller (Paterson, Sons & Co. Glasgow) A dustwrapper is not called for. International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. This copy is from the seventh edition which is undated however the attractive tissue guarded frontispiece 'Proud Maisie' is by Frederick Sandys. The drawing is one of a series that Sandys made in 1867, each of which is known by the title Proud Maisie, and which was inspired by Walter Scott?s poem Proud Maisie. The text of the poem, is set to music by Malcolm Lawson and is included in this book (pp 33). Ref AAA 1.

In burgundy cloth-covered boards, blind rules around edges, gilt lettering front and spine. viii, 286pp. Tissue-guarded engraved frontispiece, vignette on title page and further occasional vignettes and page decorations. Small folio. A large and heavy volume which will incur an additional charge for overseas delivery. Cloth rubbed at edges, with rounding to corners and spine ends, some splattered marks, mild scratch on verso. Gift inscription, dated 1897, inked onto front paste down. A little spotting and toning on endpapers, hint of creaminess to pages, else internally neat, clean and tight. A collection of 50 traditional songs, with lyrics and vocal scores, gathered from oral tradition, private manuscripts and older collections of poetry and music of Caledonian minstrelsy. This, the second volume of such songs, was first published some 10 years after volume one. Perhaps signed by Malcolm Lawson on the title page, but the pencilling has faded and it is not possible to be sure.
