Volland Company (), later edition of 1924 to 1929; cloth backed green paper boards with large picture of children dancing around a flowering tree; each page individually hinged, poem and full colour picture of happy children above; oblong 12.25x9.25; np., Joliet, Illinois (Chicago), 1917

/Janet Laura Scott, illustrator. (illustrateur). CONDITION: Very Good Plus; no owner name or other marks, evidence of small rubbed bumps to corners can be seen on pages (1/8" or less); 1/4" chip to bottom corner of endpaper, pages very bright, unwrinkled, and generally clean with occasional light margin soil. Picture Book hardback Bright detailed pictures on tawny yellow background of children at work and play during the day in Scott's vivid Deco style. An unusual later printing of a lovely book: because the quality of the production is very nice, I would assume it was printed soon after Gerlach-Barklow acquired Volland and moved the publishing house to Joliet; (there is no indication of a later printing, plates have "Volland, Chicago"). ABE Heritage Seller since 1996; conservative AB condition grading. We ship all our books in cardboard protection. International shipping. /Janet Laura Scott, illustrator.
