Cobalt-blue illustrated publisher's cloth over beveled boards, gilt & black lettering, decoration illustration front cover wraparound to spine, brown clay-sized endpapers (minor edgewear, fraying head & foot of spine, minor bumping & wear to corners), still a VG- copy, w/ small bookseller's label of Joseph McDonogh, Albany, NY on front pastedown. First American edition of this well-written account of Mrs. Brassey's yachting voyages from 1874-1878 on their 3-masted steam-powered schooner Sunbeam through the Mediterranean, Adriatic, with stops in Greece, Sicily, Cyprus, and extensive travels and stops through Constantinople, and the Ottoman Empire. Most of the woodcut engravings are based on photographs by Brassey (1839-1887) was an accomplished amateur photographer, and of which over 5600 survive in folio volumes held by the Huntington Library.
