Edition originale
Grey card cover. [First Edition]. 260mm x 170mm (10" x 7"). 248pp. B/w photographs. Text in Norwegian with a summary chapter in English. The aim of the study is to describe some of the trends in the development of sculpture in the first decades of the twentieth century, when the neobaroque and impressionist style, which had culminated in the art of Rodin, was succeeded by a completely different treatment of form and composition. The study deals with this change of style and also analyses the subsequent stages of the new style, as some of the main elements were soon relaced by others. The study is concentrated upon the works of three Scandinavian sculptors: Contents include Carl Milles [1875], Kai Nielsen [1882-1924 and Gustav Vigeland [1869-1943]. G: in good condition without dust jacket. Cover rubbed. Previous owner's signature and date on half title.
